More About us
Transformation Transitional Living is founded upon the lessons of lived experience, renewed sense of purpose, and deep belief that long-term sobriety requires more than survival. It requires community, personal accountability, and space to grow and be practiced over time.
After a decade of struggling with alcoholism and cycling through several clinical treatment centers, one of our founders reached a breaking point. Despite countless attempts, and seemingly endless application of coping skills, lasting change was elusive.
The strictly reinforced rules of traditional sober living facilities were applied to each cycle of relapse, until finally, in the depths of rock bottom, full surrender to a 12-step program became the heart's home. It was the one path not yet given a chance that proved to be the key, only able to be found from a completely different perspective. While the rules and structure of traditional sober living facilities provided a secure launching point, the decision to apply the steps sparked a profound spiritual and personal transformation, opening the door to an entirely new way of life, and of truly living.
For a while it was difficult to believe that there could be more: something beyond finding a reason; every reason, to stay sober. Yet after three months immersed in 12-step study within a structured sober living environment, rather than choosing a promising, completely unrestricted independent housing opportunity, the decision was made to transition to a 3/4 house (one step beyond 1/2 way) connected to the AA community. The house was near a bus stop. The kitchen was fully equipped and the common areas and bedrooms fully furnished with clean, modern furniture. Each room held one occupant. The manager of the house had over a decade of experience in addiction recovery services.
Both voiced concern to each other about the gap between traditional sober living and halfway houses as well as independent living, such as:
There are many traditional sober living facilities and post-treatment centers.
There is an endless variety of opportunities for independent living.
But almost nothing exists to bridge the two.
And...
We need more than a halfway house. We need a 3/4 house!
The very house in which the two had met was living proof that this gap can so simply, albeit often not so easily, be bridged. From this mutually adamant focus on possibility, Transformation Transitional Living was born.
We offer a clean private environment where you can balance productive use of personal time with building a sober network and financial stability. We believe this is the best way to practice true independence. Sober independence.
Our properties are for small groups of individuals who are ready to move not just into a house, but into the next chapter of living—people who no longer need the strict rules of a sober living facility, yet still benefit from daily practice of accountability, sober-supportive community, and 12-step-based principles.
Welcome to the bridge between where you’ve been and where you’re meant to go. Welcome to Transformation Transitional Living.
